Sophie Collé experiments with familiar colors and forms that result in unexpected furniture and objects. Inspired by toys and movements such as Memphis Milano, De Stijl, and the Bauhaus, her work is an homage to play. After studying industrial design at Virginia Tech, a quick stint at a contemporary art museum, and working in high-end residential interior design, she began materializing the numerous designs that filled her sketchbooks. With a deep appreciation for craft, she hand-builds all of her pieces out of her Brooklyn studio. She is forever questioning the relationship humans have with art, design, and furniture.
